Signs that a Summer Wedding Isn't Right for You
A summer wedding has its perks, but it definitely has a few downsides. Here are a few good reasons to reconsider having a summer wedding.
Perspiration.
If you have been known to perspire on a warm spring day, a summer wedding may not be realistic. If wearing a tee shirt underneath is the only way to from noticing that your outer shirt is wet from sweat, chances are that you won't want to get married in the summer. Keeping yourself cool and dry may be at the top of your priority list.
Hydration.
A summer wedding is when temperature reach their highest point. You should be sure to drink water much more than you would at other times of the year. For some people this is a challenge and for brides with perfectly painted lips and in a wedding gown, this presents an even bigger challenge. If you don't want to stop to re-hydrate every hour, consider a cooler season for your nuptials.
Sunburn.
In just a short period of time, sunburn can set it. To rock a gown without awkward tan lines or burn marks, you'll have to be extra careful in the summer months. Even a short outing in the car or a romp around the neighborhood with Fido can be enough to overdo it in the summer months.
Mosquito Bites.
The only bites you and your fiancé should want are love bites. If you are the one in the group with the sweet blood who ends up covered in welts after a stroll in the grass, chances are you are not going to be happy getting married in mosquito season, nor are your guests.
Daylight.
Some people love when the days are long, but for the vampire-types a summer wedding means way too much sunlight. If you dreamed of a sunset ceremony, you might need to start fairly late in the day to accomplish this, taking your reception well into the night before it's over. If this is you, choose anything but summer.
Family Vacation.
In the summertime parents are always looking for ways to entertain the little ones while they are not in school. This means hotels will be crawling with the little ones, rates will be higher and availability low. If you have an aversion to children, booking a destination wedding and don't want to have to deal with the discomfort of telling your guests to ix-nay on their kids-nay, you might not want to plan a summertime wedding.
